St. Patrick's Cathedral

St Patrick's Cathedral established by St. Patrick over 1500 years ago was first Catholic, but was turned Anglican along with the Henry VIII requirement.
At one point, the Fitzgeralds and the Butlers had a huge quarrel that stopped for awhile when the Butlers were hiding in the back of the Cathedral behind a heavy door. Gerald Fitzgerald had an epiphany one day when he entered the Cathedral in search of the Butlers to harm them. He wanted to end the feud with the Butlers. Since the Butlers would not open the heavy wooden door, a window was axed out by the Fitzgeralds as seen on the picture. Fitzgerald stuck his hand through the opening offering a handshake. Some sayings that have come from this are to 'chance your arm' (take a risk) or 'knock on wood'.
